Gather round kids, today we are talking about a very special day. Soon it’s going to be Mothers Day! A day that we celebrate our moms. Lion and Mouse have some stories and a special craft idea to share with us today.
The Story of Hannah
A mother’s prayers and kindness
Mouse: (Pointing at the paper) Lion, you have “A mountain of meat” crossed out. I don’t think your mom wants a mountain for Mother’s Day.
Lion: I’m stuck, Mouse! I want to give her something special. Did moms in the Bible ever get special gifts?
Mouse: Sometimes the gift was the child! There was a lady named Hannah. She wanted a baby so much that she prayed to God every single day.
Lion: Did God hear her?
Mouse: He did! He gave her a son named Samuel. And because she was so happy, every year she made him a special little coat and brought it to him to show him her love.
Lion: (Smiling) A handmade coat? I can’t sew, but I could make something with my paws!
Mouse: Now you’re thinking! A gift from the heart is the best kind.

Lion and Mouse: A Gift for Mom
Mouse skipped through the golden grass and found Lion sitting very still.
“Lion, what’s wrong?” asked Mouse.
“Mother’s Day is tomorrow,” Lion sighed. “I want to give Mom something special. But I don’t know what.”
Mouse thought for a moment. “My mom says the best gift isn’t something you buy.”
“Then what is it?” asked Lion.
Mouse smiled. “It’s you. Your hug. Your voice saying I love you.”
Lion’s eyes went wide. “That’s it?”
“That’s everything,” said Mouse.
So Lion ran home and wrapped his big warm arms around his mother. “I love you, Mom,” he said.
Mother Lion held him close and whispered, “This is the best gift of all.”
And somewhere nearby, Mouse was doing exactly the same thing.
Happy Mother’s Day, from the smallest hug to the biggest. ❤️
Craft Project: Mom’s jar of Joy

Objective: To fill a container with messages of gratitude and helpful promises. Remember to fill it over half way, so it looks nice and full.
What You’ll Need:
- The clear plastic container.
- Two different colors of construction paper or Post-it notes (e.g., Pink and Yellow).
- Markers, crayons, or pens.
- Scissors (ask dad to help you cut the paper).
- Ribbon or stickers (optional, for decorating the outside).
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Prepare Your “Love Slips”
Cut your two colors of paper into small strips or squares.
Color A (e.g., Pink): These will be for “All the ways Mom loves me.”
Color B (e.g., Yellow): These will be for “Helpful promises for Mom.”
2. Write the “Gratitude” Strips (Color A)
On each piece of Color A, write one specific thing Mom does that makes you feel loved. Use one slip of paper per idea.
Examples: “Mom makes me yummy sandwiches for school,” “She gives the best bedtime hugs,” or “She helps me with my math homework.”
3. Write the “Promise” Strips (Color B)
On each piece of Color B, write one thing you will do to help Mom or make her smile. Think of these as little “coupons” she can use.
Examples: “I will clean my room without being asked,” “I will help set the table for dinner,” or “I will pick up my toys.”
4. Decorate the Container
Before filling it, make the container look special! You can:
Draw a heart on the lid with a permanent marker.
Tie a colorful ribbon around the base.
Add a label that says “Mom’s Jar of Joy: Open when you need a smile!”
5. Fill and Gift
Fold all your colored slips of paper and put them inside the container. Shake them up so the colors mix! When Mom opens it, she’ll see a beautiful blend of all the reasons she’s loved and all the ways her family is going to help her out.
