Anxiety is often described as a storm, but for many, it feels more like a vigilant Protector that refuses to sleep. It is a physical and emotional response to the feeling of being unsafe, manifesting in the shallow breath, the tight chest, or the racing thoughts you have carried since childhood.
While it can feel like a sign of being “broken,” anxiety is actually a testament to your body’s profound desire to survive and protect you from further pain. Healing doesn’t mean the alarm never goes off again; it means learning to respond to that alarm with the gentle, steady voice of a wound-healer who knows that, even in the midst of the shaking, you are seen and held.
Ten Points on Anxiety
Let’s slow down, grab a cup of coffee and a notebook and slowly work through the following points. You don’t have to finish the list today.
1. Anxiety shouts “what if?”—faith whispers “God is with me.”
Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you… I will strengthen you and help you.”
2. Worry is carrying tomorrow’s load with today’s strength—no wonder it feels heavy.
Matthew 6:34 “Do not worry about tomorrow…”
3. Anxiety thrives in imagination; peace grows in prayer.
Philippians 4:6–7 “Do not be anxious about anything… but in every situation, by prayer… the peace of God…”
4. An anxious heart asks, “What if I fall?”—God answers, “I will catch you.”
Psalm 55:22 “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you…”
5. Anxiety magnifies problems; gratitude magnifies God.
Psalm 69:30 “I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.”
6. Peace is not the absence of storms; it’s the presence of Jesus in the boat.
Mark 4:39–40 “He rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’”
7. When my mind runs in circles, God’s love holds me still.
Psalm 94:19 “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.”
8. Anxiety says ‘it’s all on you’; the gospel says ‘it’s all on Him.’
1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
9. Fear borrows from the future; faith brings God into the present.
Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
10. I don’t have to feel in control to be secure—God is not anxious about my life.
Matthew 6:32–33 “…your heavenly Father knows that you need them… seek first His kingdom…”
Prayer:
Father thank You for Your peace in my heart. Help me to rest in You.
